Getting started
It takes about five minutes. You need a WooCommerce store on HTTPS and a Claude or ChatGPT account.
1. Add Gridly to Claude
- In Claude, open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it
Gridlyand paste this address:https://mcp.gridlypaper.com/mcp - Click Connect. A Gridly page opens — enter your email, open the sign-in link we send you, and click Approve.
ChatGPT: add Gridly as an app with the same address https://mcp.gridlypaper.com/mcp (ChatGPT's developer mode is needed until Gridly is listed in its directory).
2. Connect your store
- Open https://app.gridlypaper.com/stores.
- Type your store address (for example
https://myshop.com) and click Connect my store. - WordPress asks you to approve access. Click Approve. You're sent back to Gridly.
- Click Test connection to check.
If one-click connect doesn't work, add the keys yourself: in WordPress go to WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → REST API → Add key, give it Read/Write permission, and paste the Consumer key and secret into the "paste keys manually" form.
3. Ask
How did my shop do this month compared to last month?
What's running low on stock?
What should I fix in my store?
Show me unpaid orders older than 3 days.
Changing things safely
When you ask for a change, Gridly shows a preview — exactly what would change — and waits. Say yes and it applies the change and gives it a number. Say "undo change 12" to put things back. Fields you edited yourself in the meantime are left alone.
Schedule a change for later
Ask for the change as usual and check the preview. When you approve, say when: "Apply it next Monday at 9am." Gridly applies it at that time — only if nothing in your store changed in between — and emails you the result. Ask "what's scheduled?" to see the list, or cancel it any time.
Optional emails
Under Email alerts in your account you can turn on a daily or weekly summary and low-stock alerts. They're off until you switch them on.
What Gridly can do
| Read | List stores · sales summary · compare periods · top products · find orders · order details · find products · low stock · customer insights · store health check · change history |
|---|---|
| Insights | Sales forecast · customer segments (VIP, repeat, new, lapsed) · campaign ideas · report across all your stores · profit margin (needs cost prices in WooCommerce) |
| Change | Bulk edit products (price, sale, stock, status, categories, tags) · save new product text and SEO title/description · update an order (status, notes) · create a coupon · undo a change |
| Later & saved | Schedule an approved change for later (and cancel it) · save your brand's writing style for product text |
Troubleshooting
- "WooCommerce's API wasn't found" — in WordPress open Settings → Permalinks and choose anything except "Plain", then save.
- "WooCommerce refused our access key" — the key was deleted, or a security plugin or host firewall blocks API requests. Reconnect, or ask your host to allow requests to
/wp-json/wc/. - "Took longer than 20 seconds" — your hosting is slow. Try again.
- Store address must use https:// — WooCommerce keys are only safe over HTTPS.
